Feminist wallpapers, anyone?

August 22, 2009

For some strange reason, my blog is being visited by more and more people looking for “feminist wallpapers”. This, when I’ve never posted any wallpapers on my blog, ever! And I only have a couple of posts on feminism.. nothing that would bring my blog in the top search results for “feminist wallpapers”. Lol.. Google’s dumb, and it’s making us dumber. Gosh, we need intelligent search engines, and soon.

I tried googling “feminist wallpapers” myself and came up with negligible relevant results. Surprising, isn’t that? Is that because there are no feminists left or no one cares about feminist wallpapers? But then, how does it explain at least 25 hits on my blog everyday just looking for feminist wallpapers?

Among the top 5 Google results for “feminist wallpapers” were the following really ridiculous images:

killaman

tigerwoman

I have nothing to say about these images. Anyone who knows my views on women’s rights and feminism will know.

But the point of this post is to actually give my readers some halfway decent feminist wallpapers. Here are some of my favorite feminist images, including feminist stamps for blogs or websites. I scourged around the internet and found Deviant Art to be a great resource. You might want to check my ‘Collection‘ on Deviant Art.

The one above is among my all-time favorites. It’s such a compelling image – it’s like a Mona Lisa, there can be endless number of interpretations just about the eyes of this woman.

Here are some stamps I found on Deviant Art:

You can download all these images or order prints on Deviant Art. Drop me a line if you liked these images, and let me know if there’s something else you’re looking for.. I might just be able to dig out something you like :)

Heartfelt

May all your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view, where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams waits for you.

Of the gladdest moment in human life, methinks, is the departure upon a distant journey into unknown lands. Shaking off with one mighty effort the fetters of habit, the leaden weight of routine, the cloak of many cares and the slavery of civilization, man feels once again happy.
