Battered But Back

June 18, 2009

Most battered women go back to their husbands ‘for the sake of their kids’. Strangely, most women don’t seem to think of what an example they’re setting for their children. And so, it’s amazing to hear the child of an abused woman say this to her mother,

‘What kind of an example would you set for me if you go back to the man who broke you?

Heartfelt

May all your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view, where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams waits for you.

Of the gladdest moment in human life, methinks, is the departure upon a distant journey into unknown lands. Shaking off with one mighty effort the fetters of habit, the leaden weight of routine, the cloak of many cares and the slavery of civilization, man feels once again happy.
